Wasn't a huge fan
By Megan G
I wasn't a huge fan of this book. The way it was laid out was rather odd, but it served it's purpose in my Comparative Criminal Justice Systems class.

Great book and Professor
By S.Thomas
This book covers almost everything you need to know about justice systems around the world. It is full of facts and examples from several different countries ranging from courts, corrections and policing. Dr. Reichel is also my professor for Comparative Justice and I can tell you I have learned a lot between his book and personal teachings.

Great Overall work
By JOClass 2011
This is a great comprehensive work by Dr. Reichel. It encompasses a large amount of well researched and genuine material and ideas. There is a ton of information and flexability with this text. This text does a great job of defining and articulating why we should study international crime and other countries criminal justice systems and crime rates/ crime populations, prison systems, law, juvenile justice, The courtrooms! Dr. reichel takes us everywhere and offers up new fresh and interesting insight in a new and exciting field teaching at a top criminal justice program in the country at The University of Northern colorado. I would reccommend this text to college students, proffessors of college students, police officers, government employees, prison and jail officers. It is all encompassing text that is bold and creative in a new era of comparative criminal justice. Only by comparing our system with others around the world can we effectively find and target weaknesses within our system and working with other countries because we do live in an age of man where crime knows no borders or boundries. rich criminals and business people alike collaborate yearly to commit crime on a global level. The crime of the 21st century in the global mortgage crisis of 2008 involved many people from many countries. comparative Criminal Justice is the Future!!!!

Here are a few quotes: "When ethnocentrism makes people in one group unwilling to understand and appreciate differences with people from other groups, prejudice and discrimination can result", "In Fact the American model of policing is more unusual than common...As if to emphasize the point, the U.S. Constitution mentions only two crimes (counterfeiting and treason) and avoids any mention of a national police force to protect federal property and enforce federal laws.(pg.192)" , "The Idea of punishing offenders financially predates the code of Hammurabi and remains popular today in many countries. (pg 297)", "Another common theme among women prisoners around the world is their link to drug offenses. (pg.333)"
